I'm not sure if anybody has seen the new Gretsch Catalina Club kits, but they are REALLY cool! No, they're not high-end maple shells. But for a fun bebop kit that sounds pretty good and looks GREAT, it's a steal.

The shells are Philippine Mahogany so we all know what that means. But, I must say, they sound very nice. The toms have the retro single lug design with long tension rods and the tom mount is in the center of the kick. The kit I saw was a 12", 14" ft, 18" kick, and matching 14" snare in WMP. Just beautiful. The best part is, GC was willing to let me have it for $450 OUT THE DOOR!

I might have to pick one up just for small gigs! Just beautiful.

If anyone has purchased or played one of these, please share any thoughts!

I JUST picked up this kit just like the picture. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the sound, but I must say, they sound GREAT. I'm really happy with the sound AND look. The kick is very impressive, ESPECIALLY for a kit of this price.

If you're looking for a small gig kit, practice kick, or a fun kit to play around on, you cannot go wrong here.

    I'm one happy customer! :-)
